The current stage cannot be skipped unless you clear it, then you can gain access to the next stage.

Enable to open new stage after completing prerequisite adventure — We set a rule that you cannot enter or skip to a new stage until the current stage is cleared. This rule applies to all stages & Boss doors in the Adventure scene.
